Tile Installation in Gloucester Point, VA
Tile installation is the most permanent flooring decision you'll make. Done right, a porcelain or ceramic floor can outlast the house's next two kitchens. Done wrong, it cracks, the grout crumbles and there's no quick fix. We take tile seriously for exactly that reason: the right product, a solid and properly prepared base, and one upfront price that includes furniture moving, tear-out, installation and disposal. Professionally installed across Gloucester Point.

Built for Gloucester Point homes
Gloucester Point is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Gloucester County, on the north side of the York River. The Coleman Bridge connects it to Yorktown, and almost half of its area is water. Flooring in Gloucester Point, VA has to be chosen with that water in mind.
Gloucester Point is a census-designated place in Gloucester County and the county's largest community. English explorers including Christopher Newport, John Smith and Robert Tyndall came here in 1608, when it was called Tyndall's Point. Colonists built fortifications on the point in 1667, and the site was rebuilt and used again in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. After Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, the British and Hessian forces at Gloucester surrendered about an hour later. Tyndall's Point Park marks the fort site today.
The 2020 census counted 10,587 residents. The CDP covers 16.4 square miles, and 7.0 of those are water, including the tidal York River, Sarah Creek and part of Timberneck Creek. The College of William & Mary's Virginia Institute of Marine Science is based here, with Gloucester Point Beach Park beside its campus. Just up U.S. Route 17, Hayes is one of the county's two main commercial centers, and the Guinea area nearby has long been the center of the county's seafood industry.
Route 17 crosses the York on the George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge, which opened in 1952 and was rebuilt and widened in 1995. At 3,750 feet it is the largest double-swing-span bridge in the country, and tolls on it ended in August 2025.
With that much tidal water around, humidity is a fact of life, and homes on low ground near the river and creeks need a floor that won't be ruined by moisture. Luxury vinyl plank with a waterproof core is our first recommendation for kitchens, baths, entries and ground-floor living areas. Porcelain tile is a strong choice for baths and mudrooms. Carpet still belongs in bedrooms and upstairs rooms, over a dense pad, and we include an upgrade to an 8-lb pad at no extra charge. Before any floor goes down, we check the subfloor and moisture, especially over crawlspaces, because a waterproof plank can't stop water coming up from below.
Gloucester Point is the farthest point in our service area: across Hampton Roads to the Peninsula, then north on Route 17 through Yorktown and over the York River. We come to you for the in-home estimate and bring samples. You get one upfront price covering furniture moving, tear-out, installation and disposal, with no haggling, no hidden charges and no bait-and-switch. Financing is available.

Tile questions from Gloucester Point homeowners
Do you really come all the way to Gloucester Point?
Yes. It's the far end of our service area, across the York River, but we come to your home for the in-home estimate. Tell us where the house is when you call and we'll set a day that works.
What floor works in a house near the York River or Sarah Creek?
Luxury vinyl plank with a waterproof core is the safest choice for ground floors, kitchens and baths, because it won't swell from humidity or spills. We check the subfloor and any crawlspace moisture first so the new floor isn't sitting over a problem.
Is carpet a bad idea this close to the water?
Not in the right rooms. Carpet over a dense pad works well in bedrooms and upstairs, where it adds warmth and quiet. We'd keep it out of entries, baths and damp ground-floor rooms.
Can I see samples without driving to Norfolk?
Yes. We bring samples to your home in Gloucester Point for the estimate. If you'd like to see the full selection, the showroom is at 2811 Lafayette Blvd in Norfolk.
Porcelain or ceramic: which should I choose?
Porcelain is denser and absorbs very little water, so it's the stronger choice for floors that see heavy traffic or moisture. Ceramic is a little softer and often less expensive, and it works well on walls and in lighter-use rooms. For most floors, we recommend porcelain.
Why does tile crack, and how do you prevent it?
Most cracked tile comes from what's underneath: a subfloor that flexes, a slab with a moving crack, or tile set without full mortar coverage. We check the substrate, add backer board or a crack-isolation layer when the conditions call for it, and set the tile to the standard the manufacturer requires.
